Highlight: Conquest Army Builder Preview

A few weeks ago, we got to read all about the escalating tensions between the Hundred Kingdoms and the Spires and how their armies clashed for the first time in centuries. For those who haven’t read it yet, take some time to do so as there are spoilers ahead. You can find all about it here!

As any Pheromancer and Noble knows, bringing a strong, cohesive force to the battlefield is crucial to ensure tactical superiority and victory over your opponents. Fortunately for us, we don’t have to go to the same lengths to field a force like Prince Fredrik had, as in the future we will simply log into the Conquest Army Builder and field our troops from the comfort of our own castle.

The first installment to the Nepenthe trilogy had two small forces clashing against each other, but what you would not know is that this battle was inspired from an actual game between members of our team. In an epic clash between our Community Manager and Lead Writer, they brought two small forces of 1550pts each to dish it out.

Here are the two Army lists built in the Army Builder, currently in Beta version.

Army Building in Conquest follows very simple principles. Each Army is comprised of Characters who in turn bring their own Warbands made up from one to four Regiments each. Every Character has access to Regiments that are thematically tied to them as presented in the lore of Conquest. Based on those thematic restrictions every Character can choose between Mainstay Regiments, that is troops that the Character has ample access to, and Restricted Regiments that are harder to come by and therefore limited in numbers.

Having selected the Regiments that will accompany your Character it is time to add to those forces by purchasing Command models, extra Stands and Regiment specific upgrades.

In an easy-to-use interface you will be able to find all options available to that Regiment along with the total cost and final count of the Regiment’s Stands. Once you are done selecting your upgrades simply click the options button to collapse the drop-down menu and move on to the next Regiment. Characters follow the same principle when it comes to selecting their upgrades.

Once you are done assembling your mighty force, make sure to share it with others by either getting an easy to copy sharable text or link to send to your friends and hopefully allies.

Finally should you wish to save your Army list you will be able to export the whole list in a printer friendly PDF file for you to save on your mobile device and always have at hand.

What is most important is that our Army Builder will be available to you for free, for you to enjoy and explore all the different armies and strategies you would like to try on to the tabletop. The Conquest Army Builder will be on display at the Essen Spiel show! Come see us there, play a game with us and tell us what you think of the game and Army builder. Until then, you can find the rules of the game here and get all the news and updates from our social media here and here!

Stay tuned for Nepenthe part-two and don’t forget to subscribe to our monthly newsletter, a form for which you will find at the bottom of the page!
