First Blood – Weavers Courts Faction Spotlight Part 2

Lumbering through the wooded realms of the Weaver Courts, the formidable Gallowglass splinter both branch and bone with sickening ease. Enemies are pulverized into fertilizer by the heaved stones of the Gallowglass Wardens or the clobbering chitinous fists of the Gallowglass Warriors. Smashing their way onto the tabletop, here is an overview on how your new beetle buddies play in your games of First Blood.

Both versions of Gallowglass boast an impressive Defense of 4, turning aside all but the most powerful of blows. They both also share the Juggernaut Special Rule, allowing them to push aside enemies as an Action to get where they need to go or to free them up to lob their boulders!

On the topic of boulders, the Gallowglass Wardens hurl verdant clumps of stone and soil, where upon impact a Seed Marker is placed using their Ciaróg Catapult Special Rule:

Ciaróg Catapult: (Unique Volley Action) Place a Seed Marker wholly within 8″ of this Warrior. All Warriors (Friendly and Enemy) within 3″ of this Marker suffer 1 Hit. If any Enemies are Slain from these Hits, the Seed Marker is immediately replaced with a Bloom Marker.

If this living payload squishes an Enemy, their mushy remains sprouts the Seed Marker into a Bloom Marker; a beautiful yet deadly flora erupting from the crater left by the Gallowglass Warden’s Volley Action.

The Gallowglass Wardens role within the Weaver Courts army is to eliminate hordes of foes with their Unique Volley Actions and by wading through enemy chaff utilizing their Iron Discipline Special Rule.

On the other end of the beetle spectrum lie the Gallowglass Warriors; mighty brutes who exemplify all things tough and hulking! The Gallowglass Warriors have a staggering Cleave 3 and the Fiend Hunter Special Rule, making them the Weaver Court’s premier armor and big things busters. Furthermore, these beetle bullies are not keen on interlopers, as while a Gallowglass Warrior is within range of a Bloom Marker they gain the Smite Special Rule as part of their Grove Guard Special Rule:

Grove Guard: While within range of a Friendly Bloom Marker, this Warrior gains the Smite Special Rule.

These beetles beat-all, forming the formidable buggish backbone of any well-doing Weaver Court’s cohort. That’s enough alliteration from us, you can read how the Weaver Court’s play in First Blood in our Weaver Court’s Faction Spotlight following the link here!
