First Blood – Weaver Courts Faction Spotlight

Trespassers beware! When unwary foes cross through the realms of the Weavers, they are met with the full might of the Faerann. Through Bloom, Branch, Blade, and Bow; all who oppose are sure to meet an untimely demise.

Through the Wealdkin Army Rule, the Warriors of the Weaver Courts are unaffected by the negative effects of Hindering Terrain and Broken Ground. Any Battlefield can be twisted and woven to the will of the Faerann.

The Weaver Courts conduct warfare in an elegant and ceremonial mimicry of nature itself. With each passing Season, different Warriors of your Warband take the spotlight and are brought to greater prowess. At the start of the Battle, the Cycle of Seasons begins with that of your Warlord. If your Warlord is the Spring centric Rhun Sidhe, then the Cycle of Seasons begins with Spring in Ascendancy (naturally). At the Start of each ensuing Round, the Season progresses forward in the following order.

–> Spring –> Summer –> Autumn –> Winter –>

The Ascendant Seasons determines which Warriors of your Warband will be empowered by the Sil Tafain as well as the benefit they will receive. During a Summer Round, all Warriors in your Warband with the [Summer] Battlefield Role gain +1 Evasion!

Spring: +1 March

Summer: +1 Evasion

Autumn: +1 Attack

Winter: +1 Resolve

Finally, any [Character] in your Warband plants a Seed whenever they Slay an Enemy. Although unassuming at first; a Seed will blossom into a Bloom at the start of the next Round, causing great peril to all Enemies within its grasping roots.

Overgrowth: All Enemies within 3” of any Bloom Markers must Re-Roll all Block Rolls of ‘1’.

Blooms not only serve to debilitate your Enemies but to also empower Friendly Warriors that are not devoted to a Season, [Fae] Warriors nearby gain the Battlefield Role of the Ascendant Season thereby granting them the benefit of the Sil Tafain!

The Seanches Sidhe of the Weaver Courts spend Essence to manipulate Seeds and Blooms anywhere on the Battlefield depending on their Court. Seanches Sidhes of Summer can instantly cause Seeds to Bloom immediately when placed with Gifts of the Glade whereas those of Winter prefer cold contemplation through the Dormant Realm Spell, saving the Blooms for a rainy day.

Dormant Realm

Type: Unique Action Essence: 2

Replace all Bloom Markers on the Battlefield with Seed Markers.

Certain Warriors of the Weaver Courts dedicate themselves to a Seasonal Court, exchanging flexibility for Seasonal Expertise. While Autumn is in Ascendancy, the Scathach Hunters are able to bring low even the mightiest of Enemies with Swarming Strikes.

Swarming Strikes: While Autumn is in Ascendancy, this Warrior gains the Relentless Blows Special Rule.

To goad a Scoth Draic onto the Battlefield is to command the very incarnate of Spring, its flowered form shedding Seeds onto the Battlefield when Wounded. Both creating perilous Blooms for Enemies as well as sustaining itself through Rampant Growth.

Rampant Growth: Each time a Friendly Bloom is Placed within Command Range, this [Monster] immediately Heals 1.

Finally, the Taosidhe makes its debut into First Blood. A Warlord choice and a tactician without equal. Specializing in the [Fae] forces of the Weavers, a Taosidhe is able to grant the benefit of the Sil Tafain to nearby Warriors as well as allowing them to Move through each other freely. If you find waiting for the ideal season alike to watching grass grow, the Taosidhe can use the Ard Tiarna to command his Warband to quicken the ceremonial warfare of the Sil Tafain.

Ard Tiarna: (Unique Action) The Cycle of Seasons immediately progresses forward.

Warbands of the Weaver Courts are as inevitable as nature always finds a way. Sow discord, root out opposition, weed out the weak, and reap the fruits of victory with the Weaver Courts. If you are looking for more gardening puns, you are barking up the wrong tree. Until next time!
