Outriders – Conquest Community Project

Jötnars, Brutes, Sorcerers, and Angry Chickens of all kinds!

This is Leo, your friendly Conquest Community Manager, and do I have something amazing for your games this weekend!

When we think about an escalation campaign in Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, we picture grand armies clashing in brutal battles. But whether you’re running an Escalation League, diving into Narrative Play, or simply don’t have unlimited time, sometimes you just want to enjoy a smaller game of TLAOK without losing everything that makes it so much fun.

That’s exactly why our Vanguard Ryan from the USA created his own Community Project: Outriders!

Ryan take it away!

Hello Conquest community! Your Colorado Springs Vanguard, Ryan, here.

Have you ever wanted to play Conquest: TLAOK, but didn’t have enough time to play a full game? Maybe you’re building a new army and don’t want to stress out rushing to 2,000 points. Introducing fresh recruits or just looking for different ways to play?

For these reasons and more, I present a fan project I’ve been working on called Conquest Outriders – a small-scale game mode customized to work seamlessly with TLAOK’s normal ruleset. Here is what you’ll find in the Outriders pack:

A small-scale (800-1,000pt) game mode for TLAOK with bespoke objective rules, army restrictions, and scenarios for better balance/fun.

Simple 900pt premade armies built using existing Faction Starter Boxes to get right into playing.

Narrative gameplay modifiers that can be slotted into any TLAOK games – Weather Conditions and Secret Operations.

Conquest Outriders is meant to be fast-paced and bloody, taking place on a 3×4′ table area over the course of six rounds. There are four narratively-driven scenarios combined with randomized secondary objectives, such as Zones and Resources. I’m hoping Outriders fills a niche for getting quicker, easier games of TLAOK to the table, and succeeds at exploring new narrative opportunities in the world of Conquest. Let me know what you think! Your feedback is important for future changes or improvements.

Thank you to Para Bellum and the Conquest community,

Ryan
