First Blood – Yoroni Faction Spotlight

Piercing the primordial planes, the Warriors of the Yoroni follow the path to enlightenment wherever it takes them across the mortal domains of Eä. To cross blades with a Yoroni Warband is to witness mastery, mysticism, and might made manifest. Warbands of the Yoroni are incredibly distinct as every Warrior of the Yoroni are Brutes, resulting in an extremely elite and imposing force.

Warriors of the Yoroni utilize Ideal Cards in place of standard Command Cards, namesake of the Ideal they represent (Ka, Chi, Fu, Sui, and Mu). Yoroni Warriors add their associated Ideal Card at the start of the round. Any Warrior may be Activated from any Ideal Card and gain a Special Rule depending on which Ideal Card was used to Activate them. The key to mastering the Yoroni is through resourceful use of your Ideals.

Ka- Overwhelm

Chi- Bravery

Fu- Overrun

Sui- Regeneration

Mu- Aura of Death +1

The Yoroni boast an incredible variety amongst their Warriors; from the evasive and ethereal floating armaments of the Domaru Damashi to the raw unbridled rage that are the Oni Ayakashi. Harmonizing these otherwise dissonant spirits on the battlefield is the key to victory, each Warrior fulfilling their specialized role to ultimately lead to synergy. Along with some of the most truly Unique Special Rules, each Warrior is as flavorful to play as they are fearsome to face.

Oni Ayakashi- Rage Unbound: While Wounded, this Warrior gains the Burnout Special Rule.

Domaru Damashi- Spirit Unbroken: Whenever this Warrior Passes a Resolve Test, all Enemies within Engagement Range may immediately be Driven Back.

The Characters of the Yoroni are pivotal in leading your Warriors together as even your Regiment Leaders affect all Friendly Warriors through the Spirit Band Army Rule. The Warlords and Heroes of the Yoroni are key to unlocking the potential of your Warriors, each possessing a Command Ability specifically affecting Friendly Warriors of the same Ideal such as the Kitsune Bakasu’s Kitsunebi Command Ability.

Kitsunebi: Friendly [Fu] Warriors within Command Range gain the Deft and Flurry Special Rules.

Where the mysterious Jorogumos thrive in the discord of battle, the Yokai prefer a more straightforward approach. The Dai Yokai exhibits their martial mastery through their Tsunami Strike, able to slice through entire battlelines! The Genya no Yokai on the other hand is truly a living wrecking ball, empowered by devouring the Ideals of their fallen allies.

Tsunami Strike: (Unique Clash Action) All Enemies within Command Range suffer 1 Hit with the Cleave 2 Special Rule.

Warbands of the Yoroni have many tools to isolate and control their Enemies, either through Mischievous tides of cheerful chittering Shikigami distracting the foe or the sheer might of the Kami Ayakashi’s Tsukitaoshi which slams less than fortunate foes between them and their allies. Truly a Rock and a Hard Place!

Tsukitaoshi: Whenever this Warrior causes an Enemy of an equal Size or smaller to be Driven Back; instead of being Moved, you may Place the Enemy anywhere within Engagement Range.

The Yoroni bring to the Battlefield a playstyle truly as unique as they are. Will you too follow the five-fold path? Or wind up being torn to ironic shreds by the paper blades of Origami Warriors. We sure hope your path to enlightenment will lead you back here again for the next faction spotlight. Until then, muster your Warband and draw First Blood!
