It is time once again to peer into the future of First Blood. Today, we will learn how to traverse the Battlefield, the types of Terrain you will encounter, and what hazards they pose. But first, learn how to dispatch the Enemy from afar…
Volley – Out of Combat Action
Attacks the Enemy at Range! – When performing a Volley Action, first we must determine what Enemy Warriors can be Targeted as follows:

1) Select a Target: Choose an Enemy within this Warrior’s Barrage Range. Range is listed in parentheses next to a Warrior’s Barrage (X) Special Rule. Draw a Line the width of this Warrior’s Base to the Width of the Target’s Base, this is the Warrior’s Line of Sight.
2) Are any Warriors in the Way? When determining the Target of Volley Actions, if any part of the Line of Sight is impeded by another Warrior of at least equal Size of the Target, then they cannot be Targeted as the shot would be Intervened by an ally or a more pressing Enemy!
3) Is the Target Obscured? When performing Volley Actions, if any part of the Line of Sight is impeded by Terrain of at least half the Size of the Target, then the Target Warrior gains +1 Defense during that Volley Action.
4) Roll Attacks! You are now ready to unleash your Volley, Rolling Attacks equal the Warriors Barrage Special Rule; Assigning Hits equal to this firer’s Volley Characteristic. Much like Clash Actions!
Size Matters: Warriors of prominent Size such as the flame-gouting Hellbringer Drake or the trophy-seeking Leonine Avatara may be easier to Target due to their Size, but also ignore all Terrain and Intervening Warriors that are both Smaller than themselves and nearer to themselves than the Target.
Warriors must be placed deliberately to protect their Characters and Standard Bearers!
Terrain
In First Blood the Ruleset allows you to play with (and even atop of!) any Terrain that you may have in your collection in addition to the fantastic new terrain coming to First Blood. All Terrain has a Size relative to its physical Size and may be granted Traits that you the players believe suits your collection best. (of course suggestions are included for common types of Terrain!). Zonal Terrain is used to represent Hills, Forests, Chasms, Rivers, Ruins, and any other patches of rough but flat Terrain. Barricades represent short walls, rubble, or any other defensible debris, which provide cover for infantry while being easily crossed over by Warriors during their Movement.
Finally, are Vantage Points which is any Terrain that has flat platforms to move across and to fight atop of. Able to be accessed either simply through Pathways which represent stairs, doors, tunnels, ladders, or any other means of accessing different parts of a Vantage Point; or at a risk through the Climb Action! Complete with accompanying rules for Overhangs and Windows,

Terrain in First Blood is as thematic as it is tactical. Just watch your step!
The release draws ever nearer! War calls, will you answer? Check back next week for our first faction focus and tune in for our Happy Hour for the big reveal!
