The mystic cities of the Sorcerer Kings are architectural marvels only rivaled by their sorcerous prowess of their denizens. The forges are always hot, the water is always clean, but where the true power that this primordial relationship offers is most apparent is on the battlefield. Troops of loyal soldiers, powerful elementals, and the mighty conjurers that unite them warp the world itself against the enemy.
Warbands of the Sorcerer Kings utilize Primordial Confluence to enact powerful Magics onto the Battlefield. Your entire Warband shares a single Confluence pool that remains between rounds that can be used by your more Elementally attuned Warriors of your force. Confluence is gained passively by your Spellcasters each round but can also be harnessed by your Elementals, such as the Windborne and Steelheart Djinn’s Incarnate of Air Special Rule.
Incarnate of Air: Each time this Warrior performs a March or Reposition Action, gain 1 Confluence.
The most impressive way to spend Confluence is through enacting powerful Rituals. During your Command Phase, if you have both enough Confluence to spend and the either a Spellcaster or Monster of the corresponding Court on the Battlefield you can perform a Ritual. There are a total of 8 Rituals at your disposal, 1 for each Elemental Court and 4 that require multiple elements to be present on the Battlefield. In effect they range from the simple yet effective Flamestorm, burning Enemies Engaged with friendly Fire Warriors more intensely. To the utility provided by combining both Water and Earth to summon a Lahar to sink pesky foes into a tide of rock slurry.
FIRE Confluence: 7
Flamestorm: Select a Friendly [Fire] Warrior on the Battlefield. Enemies within Command Range suffer a Hit, Enemies Engaged with [Fire] Warriors instead suffer 2 Hits.
WATER+EARTH Confluence: 4
Lahar: Select a Friendly [Earth] or [Water] Warrior on the Battlefield. All Enemies within their Engagement Range must immediately Test their Resolve, if Failed they become Broken! Enemies who become Broken are not Driven Back by this Ritual!
Rituals are not the only way to expend all your Confluence as each Court Elemental possesses their own Unique Special Rules as well. Some further enhance their strengths whereas others provide some truly Unique effects, nowhere is safe from the Guiding Winds of the Windborne Djinn.
Guiding Winds: (Unique Take Aim Action) Confluence: 2 — During this Activation, this Warrior’s Volley Action may Target any Enemy Warrior within Range ignoring Line of Sight and Terrain. The Targeted Enemy does not benefit from the Defense bonus from Obscuring Terrain.
Supporting your flashy Elementals are the Warriors of the Enclaves which can easily be imbued through Spellcasters on the frontlines to become effective fighters in their own right, none bridges the gap between the mortal and elemental planes as well as the Raj thanks to his Court Vizier Special Rule.
Court Vizier: Friendly [Enclaves] Warriors within Command Range gain the Court Battlefield Role of this [Character]. If the Raj is [Water], then all Friendly [Enclaves] Warriors within Command Range gain the [Water] Battlefield Role.
Any Monster can serve as the perfect final touch to the Sorcerer Kings Warband, which all serve many different Roles. Whether your aim is to gain access to more Rituals, shore up some weaknesses in your Warband, or to simply put a large threat into the heart of the Enemy there is surely a Monster for you. The Mahut is truly a walking bastion, slow, hardy, complete with archers in its howdah raining arrows on those with its Mystic Barrage. However, if speed and lightning fast reactions are more your style, you may find the Trinavarta Sabhagrih’s ability to quickly relocate itself across the battlefield through its Khecaratva Unique Action more to your liking.
Mystic Barrage: Whenever an Enemy ends their Activation Unengaged within Command Range, that Enemy Suffers 1 Hit.
Khecaratva: (Out of Combat Action) Confluence: 3 — Place this [Monster] anywhere on the Battlefield outside of Enemy Command Ranges.
If devotion to the very Elements themselves intrigues, muster your Sorcerer Kings Warband today. If not, avoid open flames… Elementals tend to hold a grudge. Until next time!
