During Happy Hour, we mentioned a host of exciting changes. And even though you’ll have to wait until May 12 to see everything, we couldn’t leave you hanging! Here’s your third preview—let’s take a closer look at the Nords and City States!

Nords!
The Nords received a few, but significant, adjustments in this patch. The update aimed to achieve two main goals: first, to adjust points where necessary, and second, to encourage players to explore more than one viable list for competitive play.
You may notice that the Nords did not experience the same reduction in Flank access as other factions. This was intentional. As the game shifts toward a lower Flank environment, we want the Nords to retain their identity as lightning-fast ambushers.
Rather than making Flank access essential for competitive play, we now balance around it, treating it as a minor but meaningful part of a faction’s identity.

Skorge (Axe) now also gives the Cleave (+1) Special Rule.

City States!
Like the Nords, the City States update aims to accomplish two key objectives: address the oppressive power level of Chariots and Talos, and refocus the faction’s strength where it belongs—its Infantry. These changes aren’t simply about “giving back,” but rather about taking another step toward realizing what City States should excel at: very efficient infantry formations.
Chariots
Flank is removed
Vanguard (4)
Talos
Flank is removed
Vanguard (3)
Thorakites
We wanted to preserve the identity of the fast-moving light infantry while ensuring they didn’t encroach too much on the role of the Agema. This sidegrade allows the regiment to carve out its own niche without becoming overly spammable.
Remove Fluid Formation from the basic profile.
120 pts / 35pts per Stand
Auxiliary Stand 50pts
Take Cover: When this Regiment becomes the Target of an Enemy Regiment’s Volley Action it gains the Tenacious (2) Special Rule until the end of that Action.
Change Flanks!: When the Regiment Activates from the Strategic Stack it gains the Fluid Formation Special Rule until the end of the Round.
Phalangites
Inspired by historical phalanxes, Aura of Death gives us a thematically rich way to represent the experience of facing an almost literal wall of pikes—without adding offensive power that could scale excessively with larger regiments.
Wall of Pikes: When the Regiment Activates from the Strategic Stack it gains the Aura of Death (6) Special Rule until the end of the Round.
Hoplites
A small but important adjustment to a front line Regiment helping it to further separate from Phalangites.
Hold!: While another Friendly Regiment is in contact with the same Enemy Regiment as this Regiment it gains the Opportunists Special Rule.
Satyroi
160pts / 50pts
4 Attacks
Pathfinders: A Reinforcement Line set by this Regiment cannot be pushed back by Enemy Regiments.
Polemarch Supremacy
There are two changes here. The first is technical—we removed the unnecessary distinction between a “Battlefield” effect and an “Always Active” effect. The second shifts the focus of the Supremacy ability a little bit: instead of being overly centered on the Polemarch’s own regiment, it now provides benefits to nearby friendly infantry regiments, making the character’s presence feel more impactful.
Army of Lions [Always Active]: The Regiment this Character Stand is currently attached to, including any Auxiliary Stand and the Character Stand itself, adds +1 to its Clash Characteristic (to a maximum of 4) and gains the Tenacious (1) Special Rule.
In addition, Friendly Infantry Regiments currently within 10” of the Warlord may Re-Roll failed unmodified Morale Rolls of “6 “.
Ipparchos Supremacy
The effect was slightly altered to only affect Enemy Regiments if they are Engaged in their Side or Rear.
This change is intended to prevent the spamming of Chariots and Companion Cavalry to simply tag enemy regiments and block them from scoring. It now requires more deliberate setup to pull off effectively.
The Eidolon can no longer become the Warlord
The Supremacy is more fitting to the Mechanist and removes a bit of efficiency from the Eidolon.
Mechanist Supremacy
A maximum of 2 is introduced on the Hardened as well as removing the -1 to the Regiment’s March Characteristic.
