First Blood – Nords Faction Spotlight

In the frozen north, a bastion of mankind survives and even thrives. The Nords are a rugged people that live alongside a manner of different monstrous creatures, all bearing a mutual kinship to one another.

Although Warriors of the Nords can differ vastly in appearance and stature, they are all of one blood. All Nords benefit from the Blood of the Einherjar Army Rule, allowing them to immediately Move a short distance when they Rally! Even when brought to the brink of death, a Nord offers Enemies no respite.

From generations of forced servitude at the hands of the cruel Jotnar, all Nords have an instilled reckless (if not foolhardy) need to take the fight to the most imposing foes. The Prophecy Unfulfilled Army Rule allows Warriors of the Nords to Roll an additional Attack when performing Clash Actions against Enemies larger than themselves or while Engaged in a Duel. Why pick on someone your own size?

Raiders form the heart of many Nord Warbands, aggressive and surprisingly versatile- a well placed throwing axe can fell any unwary Enemy. When formed into a Raiding Party by a Captain, Raiders can become a formidable forward force to drive into the Enemy.

Raiding Party: Raiders in your Warband gain the Vanguard Special Rule.

The Chosen of the Nords are the most elite and are amongst the most capable warriors at the disposal of a Nords Warband, each a mighty champion in their own right and are able to individually perform great feats of valor and prowess on the battlefield. Through the Steel Chosen’s Riddle of Steel Special Rule, each Steel Chosen can individually select one of 3 effects to fit the circumstance needed. 

Riddle of Steel: (Draw Event)

Choose one of the Following effects to gain this Activation.

Valor of Tyr: Gain the Flurry Special Rule.

Vigilance of Heimdallr: Gain the Quicksilver Strikes Special Rule.

Stamina of Thor: Gain the Overrun Special Rule.

Those exhibiting the greatest gifts of their lineage, Half-bloods are the most bestial of the Nords. Each Regiment serves a specialized role available to no others; whether it is the trampling hooves of Goltr, Regenerative physiology of Trolls, or the awesome might of Ugr. These strengths can be further enhanced by the Bloodscent Command Ability of a Vargyr Lord.

Bloodscent: Friendly [Half-blood] Warriors within Command Range gain the Burnout Special Rule.

The once dominant Jotnar can be bent to the service of a particularly powerful (or wealthy) Nord Warlord. The rarest of their brethren and bearing the same primordial gifts of the long fallen Shaman-Kings, Ice Jotnar are powerful Spellcasters; able to summon a magical Blizzard capable of freezing entire swathes of Enemies.

All Enemies within Command Range must take a Resolve Test, if Failed they become Broken!

Of all the Warriors of the Nords, there exists none greater than a Konungyr. A fierce combatant and stoic leader, a Konungyr is single-handedly able to perform great feats of strength on the battlefield. Their mere presence Inspiring all those around them through their Living Legend Special Rule.

Living Legend: When this [Character] Slays an Enemy [Monster] or [Character], all Friendly Warriors within Command Range become Inspired! until the End of the Round.
