This week we will be plunging into the Sorcerer Kings Marid Apsara and Marid Shaytan; and for those without sea legs, we will also be covering the fearsome Yoroni Oni Kishin Kiba and Oni Kishin Raiu.
The Marid Apsara is the benevolent aspect of Water, giving of life and of hope. The approach to her Rules design was to serve as a Monster-sized support piece, rather than a sheer force of mayhem. The Marid Apsara strengthens the hearts of the Mortal Warriors of the Sorcerer Kings and is able to create a Healing Oasis from the turbulent tides of battle, both literally and figuratively! Finally, the Marid Apsara can summon Water Warriors from anywhere on the battlefield to her aid, providing an unmatched fluidity to your forces. The Marid Apsara fits into any Sorcerer King Warband; Healing multi-wound Elementals, anchoring the resolve of your infantry, and summoning your Water Warriors into unexpected positions.
Unlike her peaceful counterpart, the Marid Shaytan is everything the Apsara is not. Unrelenting and unabating. Regardless of the ebb and flow of battle, the Shaytan swells with power; Healing whenever Friendly Warriors are Slain and gaining Confluence whenever Enemies are Slain within her vicinity. This Confluence can be spent to flood the Battlefield, causing the Resolve of Enemies nearby to erode away. Where the Marid Apsara recedes when injured, the Marid Shaytan crashes even harder into the Enemy, boosting her Impact to 3! The Marid Shaytan is amongst the Sorcerer King’s most reliable ways to handle swathes of infantry. The Marid Shaytan is the storm and the enemy simply lost at sea…
The Oni Kishin form the elite and brutal shock force of the Yoroni. Able to shove aside anything short of a Monster with their Mighty Steeds, the Oni Kishin deliver the unfettered rage of their Oni riders directly into the heart of the Enemy battleline. The Oni Kishin Kiba thrive where the fighting is the thickest, swinging their great blades in deadly arcs and even able to exert themselves to increase their attacks during Clash actions. The Oni Kishin Raiu focus their Oni strength into disciplined and devastating Charges, plunging their spears directly into the heart of the fiercest of enemies. Regardless of your preferred flavor, the Oni Kishin can lay all but the greatest of foes to their knees-for your forces to then deliver the final blow!
