The Nepenthe Campaign

Many a year has passed since the infamous battle of Nepenthe; yet such a legendary clash between the dauntless King Fredrik and the aloof Alchemist was not destined to be their last. In this all-new Nepenthe Campaign, the saga that has made the Spire's very name a dreaded omen now enters yet another critical chapter!

Following the events of the Nepenthe Collection, King Fredrik solidified his position as the ruler of the entire province of Riismark; though claiming such power came with a heavy burden, for the monarch of Brandengrad now finds his realm besieged on too many a front. Nords, Dweghom, and even W’adrhŭn settlers all chip away at Riismark's stability and threaten to topple Fredrik’s hard-earned rule. Even the battle-savvy Order of the Sword, supposed allies against threats to the Hundred Kingdoms, took precious land away from Fredrik, denying him precious resources...

Greatest of all threats, however, remains the haunting presence of the Nepenthe Spire, or, rather, that of its most infamous occupant: the Merchant Prince known as the Alchemist. To placate the calculating Spire-dweller, Fredrik agreed to pay the Alchemist’s hefty price, promising a great deal of the iron extracted from Riismark's mines to ensure that, at the very least, the Spires won't add to the list of the many enemies set against the progressively overwhelmed king.

Such were the terms between Fredrik, leader of the Kingdom of Brandengrad and ruler of the greater province of Riismark, and the cryptic Alchemist, Merchant Prince of Nepenthe. Fate, however, now calls for this contract to be broken, for Fredrik sees a critical opportunity to revitalize his crumbling rulership. A fellow kingdom, that of Vilno, has expressed interest in the king's harvest of steel and has thus placed a formal order. In such a development, Fredrik sees hope blossom anew, wishing to secure the loyalty of a new potential ally and push against the rising tide of enemies that threatens to engulf him. To do so, however, he must deny the Alchemist his payment, and that can mean only one thing...

The Hundred Kingdoms clash with the Spires as a new war unfolds before Nepenthe’s sky-perched gaze. As King Fredrik and the Alchemist pit their forces against each other, such is the way of things that only one of the two can be crowned the victor. Will Fredrik thwart the brutality of the Spires and secure the precious boons of his homeland? Or will the Alchemist reap what he is due and humble the insolent king through defeat? The final outcome remains to be seen...
